U.S. Troop Bags

The ASG Louisville chapter constructed U. S. troop bags in conjunction with the 2010 American Sewing Guild national project. Deployed service men and women from all of branches of the armed forces use the 14" drawstring bags to carry personal items and the bags are sometimes passed on to Iraqi children. The pattern for the bag was designed by Laura Martell of The Creative Thimble. The bags will be distributed by Operation Care Package, a non-profit organization dedicated to making sure that all deployed service personal receive mail.

For this project, the Louisville ASG has partnered with the Forget Me Knot Quilt Shoppe, which will serve as a collection site for the bags until the June 30, 2010 deadline.
